Cheryl Gochis
Vice President for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer
Mrs. Cheryl Gochis was appointed vice president of human resources and chief human resources officer in May 2016 after having served as associate vice president for HR since 2014. She manages and coordinates employment functions at Baylor University that include employee relations, benefits, compensation, recruiting, employee learning, and leadership consulting. She holds a BA and an MA in business and organizational communication, both from Baylor.
During her time at Baylor, Mrs. Gochis has served on several search committees, including those for president; chief business officer; and vice president and athletics director. She serves on numerous university-wide committees. Additionally, she served as past-president of the board of United Way of McLennan County.
Prior to joining Baylor, Mrs. Gochis worked at Extraco Banks in Waco as the executive vice president of human resources. She also worked at the financial services company USAA in San Antonio. While at USAA, she served in several HR leadership roles.
Mrs. Gochis and her husband, Rich, are the parents of three children: Drew, a Baylor graduate; Jacob, a Baylor graduate; and Hannah, a Baylor junior. They are members of First Baptist Church Woodway, where they teach a young married Sunday school class and participate in mission trips and mission organizations.
